Submmited by Mattias Desac on Wednesday, 15 January 2014

Citizens of Europe warmly invite you to apply and participate in the seminar: Y vote 2014, austerity vs. solidarity, which will take place in Berlin from 28th of January until 2nd of February and is organized and hosted by our partner AEGEE Berlin.

Do you think that young people are sufficiently aware of the impact of the European Union on their daily lives? Do you think that there is a lack of clarity and transparency regarding the European Parliament elections? Then this seminar is for you.

The European Parliament Elections in 2014 will be the 8th time when the citizens from the EU member states will use their rights and elect the democratic instance of the European Union for the next 5 years. Besides voting it is also important to rebuild the trust between the citizens and the European Union, which has deteriorated due to the financial and social crisis Europe is going through at the moment.

Y vote 2014 is a EU-wide campaign aiming to turn first-time voters and students into actors of the European Parliamentary Elections 2014 by informing them and encouraging them to participate.

With this campaign, we want to enable young people to:

  • Take stands on the most important social issues in Europe
  • Exchange and develop their positions together
  • Effectively spread them by taking active role in democratic processes of different settings and structures with central focus on: Encouraging and empowering young people in Europe to make informed choices at European Parliament Elections in 2014.

This Convention will focus on questions of the European economy and the common European economical future. We want to discuss the situation in different European countries; especially those affected by the financial crisis and develop strategies to implement those questions into the recommendations of the young European citizens towards European politicians.

The seminar is meant for those who:

- Are 18-30 years old

- Have their current residence in Germany (not necessarily German citizenship)

- Are able to use English as a working language

- Have an interest in the topic

Send a short description of yourself and a motivation letter.(approximately 400 words). Deadline is 21st of January.

We will reimburse 70% of your travel costs.

Please send your application to mattiasvpettersson@citizens-of-europe.eu
