Citizens' Weekend Budapest
5 - 7 October 2007

This year, the annual network meeting of Citizens of Europe will take place in Budapest. People from different parts of Europe who are interested in contacts and common activities with people in other European countries gather for two days.

The weekend is an opportunity to get to know each other, to exchange ideas and contacts, and to lay the ground for future ideas and co-operations in particular.

On Friday we will meet for a debate on the perspectives of the European Union to become a "Union and Citizens" after the failure of the convention process.

Saturday we will start with an introduction of all people present and their activities. Special attention will be given also to our programme Training for Europe (t4e) and our OpenFora. After a few hours to explore Budapest and to discuss project activities and ideas, we will watch contributions to our short film contest MyEurope together.

Sunday morning finally will be used to sum up the results of the meeting and to discuss the future strategy of our network. (You may have a look at the current draft version and send your comments to our office)

What are Citizens' Weekends?

Citizens' Weekends are informal meetings we organise once per year. So far, they have taken place in Berlin, Prague and Gubin.

The puprose of these meetings is to provide people working on different projects to meet and get to know others who are active in the network. Also for outsiders, they are a good opportunity to get in contact with us and to learn about our activities and plans.

Based on the experience of previous meetings, we decided to leave more time for exploring the city of Budapest and for informal contacts among people having similar interest.

We welcome the participation of individuals willing to get involved and also of representatives of organisations who would like to co-operate with us!
