"Choose your learning, choose your life" is the name of the Grundtvig learning partnership that Citizens of Europe is part of. The main goal of the project is to promote Learning to Learn (L2L) and Self-Directed Learning (SDL) as tools for independency. It targets mainly adult educators, who will have the chance of improving their L2L facilitation competence.
Learning to Learn (L2L) is a meta-competence – meaning that it provides keys for unlocking the doors to other competences. The speed and the complexity of our society and of the labor market requires independent self-directed learners. This is not what we learned in school. Our L2L competence was not developed there. Most of us when thinking about our learning, will relate that to experiences we have in following lessons and courses, mostly in school. The problem is that many people who score poor or badly in formal education draw from that the conclusion that they are ʻbad or poor learnersʼ.
For them the word ʻlearningʼ has a negative quotation and the logical consequence is often a vicious circle.
How can adult education answer to the modern challange of a rapidly developing world in which the creation of knowledge increases exponentially and learning is essential?
L2L is nowadays a must for everybody. The 'Choose your learning Choose your life' projects depart precisely from this question and addresses this subject by focusing on the adult educators' facilitating roles. The main goal of the project is to promote learning to learn and self-directed learning as tools for independency and it targets mainly to adult educators who will have the chance of improving their L2L facilitation competence.
