Maaret Jokela

Vice Chair (since 2011)
I am PhD-candidate in human geography at the University of Bern in Switzerland. My research interests are social movements, gender and transnational networks and in my work as an assistant I teach courses for undergraduate students in human geography. Originally I'm from Finland but have been living abroad since many years, mostly in Germany and Switzerland. Berlin is still my second home and I'm always happy to go back to our meetings and events. I enjoy being part of Citizens because of the variety of projects, people and events that inspire and give everyone the space to share their ideas and learn from others.
I joined Citizens in 2009 after a joint project (Citizens Initiative) I participated as member of AEGEE-Berlin, a European student organisation in which I was president and board member during my studies.
